Student Teachers Training Programme (STTP) – Pandesara (2019–2020)
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Asaadharan launched the Accelerated Learning Program (ALP) to support children aged 8–14 years who had dropped out or never attended school. The goal was to bring them up to a Grade 4 level in literacy and numeracy within a condensed learning period.
The program focused on strengthening foundational skills in English Language and Mathematics, using a 14-month curriculum developed by condensing NCERT content from Standards 1, 2, and 3. All learning was aligned with NCERT learning outcomes, providing a structured framework for tracking students’ progress.
To successfully implement ALP, we developed a parallel Teachers Training Program, in collaboration with organizations like Teach For India and Aavishkaar-Palampur. This initiative provided participating educators with essential pedagogical and subject-specific training.
We partnered with Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), Surat, to deliver this training to 51 Balmitras — teachers working under the Special Training Program (STP) to educate dropout children in Surat’s major slum areas.
